Videonetics solution deployed in North Bengal
Videonetics’ Intelligent Video Management Software & Automatic Number Plate Recognition Solution has been successfully deployed to secure the largest city of North Bengal under the Safe City Mission of the Government of West Bengal.
A major tourist, trading and commercial hub with a population of over 700 thousand, this city is the third-largest in the state of West Bengal. Known as the “gateway” to North-East India, it is the second-largest city in North-East after Guwahati. It witnessed a massive concern with the flourishing inflow of tourists and traffic. There was an excessive increase in crime rate. The immediate need for modern surveillance system was strongly felt by the Police Department to secure the city from such threats and challenges.
Under the unified solution, more than 100 critical locations are secured along with major traffic junctions which registered heaviest traffic flow at peak hours. Videonetics IVMS solution helps in recording and viewing video footages over IP network in an efficient and elegant way, hence empowering city police with 24x7 real-time monitoring with investigation-friendly interface. To deter traffic violations and recognize suspected/unwanted vehicles, ANPR system has been installed at critical junctions to capture the licence plates of any vehicle(s) in the field of view (FOV) of a specialized camera, even in low-light conditions. It automatically generates alerts when any vehicle captured within the camera FOV is recognized as “suspicious”, “wanted”, or any other category tagged by the police department.
Moreover, the city has been equipped with its first command control centre, situated at Police Headquarters, enabling law-enforcement officials to search, analyze and take proactive actions when any incident occurs.
“We are honoured to be part of this prestigious Safe City Project, which is designed to provide secure environment to city habitants. Videonetics is committed to bring technology solutions suitable to meet such challenges of Indian Cities, We, at Videonetics, have been innovating state-of-the-art indigenous technologies aiming to deter traffic violations, reduce accidents and protect people, property and assets,” expressed Avinash Trivedi, Vice-President – Business Development, Videonetics.
