Vinay Choletti in talks to join Tata Digital

Former India Head of WhatsApp Pay Vinay Choletti is reportedly in talks to join Tata Digital’s payment business. He had recently quit the top position at WhatsApp Pay after having spent only 4 months at the position.

Vinay Choletti was working closely on WhatsApp Pay in India and was given the mandate to head it after Manesh Mahatme quit the position to go back to Amazon. Cholleti spent around 15 months at WhatsApp Pay where he was head of merchant payments. Vinay Choletti has previously worked with Amazon India, ITC, American Express, Citi Bank and Mashreq Bank.

Meanwhile, Tata Digital had witnessed the exits of its two senior executives Sharath Bulusu and Prateek Mehta. Both Bulusu and Mehta have left the e-commerce arm of the Mumbai-based conglomerate after spending less than a year at Tata group.

Sharath Bulusu, a former Myntra executive, has gone back to Google while Prateek Mehta has joined AngelOne. Tata Digital, which houses the ambitious e-commerce super app Neu, has been trying to build its unified payments interface (UPI) play and sell its financial services offerings from the group to consumers.
