ZTE Corporation has reportedly signed an agreement with Enel for the development and deployment of innovative power generation technologies with a focus on environmental sustainability and improved distribution efficiency.
Francesco Starace, Chief Executive Officer & General Manager, Enel, and Xiao Ming, President of ZTE Europe, have signed a framework agreement which outlines a comprehensive collaboration between the two companies across different areas such as electric vehicle mobility, smart grids and renewable energies. More specifically, in the renewable sector the two companies will also join forces on the site of Ollague, Chile, where Enel Green Power (the Enel Group renewable arm) is constructing an off-grid hybrid wind-photovoltaic facility with storage. Such collaboration is aimed at identifying optimization opportunities as well as developing in the future further options for similar installations.
“The agreement with Enel is the key for ZTE, as it builds on our position as a leading global player in the telecommunications and ICT solutions and equipment markets, with a focus on smart grid. Our increasing commitment to research and development, and our ongoing investments in innovation have enabled us to develop next-generation technologies, which allow us to transfer our skills to Enel, a leader in the utility space,” said Xiao Ming, President, ZTE Europe.
The areas covered by the agreement include ZTE and Enel’s innovative technology for recharging electric vehicles, evaluation of possible smart grids projects in the markets of common interest, and IT solutions aimed at making current renewable power-generating technologies even more efficient and effective.
