The panel discussion on ‘Disruptive Technologies effecting the IT Landscape’ moderated by Mr. Deepak Kr. Sahu, Managing Director – VARINDIA was an attempt at exploring the power of disruptive technologies shaping the future of technology and how it can transform business, right from the infrastructure level to customer experience. A wide portfolio of disruptive technologies include Internet of Things(IOT), Machine-To-machine(M2M), Biotech, Data and analytics, 3D Printers to name a few. The esteemed panelists presented their take on it and what they think would increase productivity of businesses.

Mr. Sandeep Kothari, CIO- Travel Food Services remarked as to how mobile device is changing the landscape and is going to be a big game changer for businesses. He further added by saying that Mobile technology empowers customers to make the right decision and also enables the company to serve their customers wherever they are.

Mr. Meheriar Patel, Head of Technology – Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd added that Mobility as a platform is looked upon as a disruption technology and as an Indian grown pharmaceutical company that has grown across the globe, his company has strategies on mobility not only on the device front but also on the app perspective.

Mr. Navin Sabharwal, Channel Manager-STG, IBM Global Services said that data has always been important for IBM and the rise of mobile devices and the applications together have contributed to almost 80 % in the last 2 years. Referring to Analytics, he praised it as a tool that gives insights of which all are the apps that are working for us and can add to the customer experience.

Mr. Rohit Biddappa, Sr. Manager – Enterprise Marketing & Corp.comm – NVIDIA tried to explain the Mobility concept both from a VAR perspective and from a consumer acquisition objective. Whether we like it or not, we cannot segregate mobile from Cloud and is slowly changing the business paradigm with companies going for a platform as a service model. He stressed on the fact that with everything moving to Cloud and becoming mobile, it becomes imperative for every company to understand what business model to adopt.

Mr. Uday Bhaskar Rao, CIO – iRam Technologies sees mobility devices to be beyond mobile phones and smartphones and took it down to the inter-connectivity between living and non-living things to explain it further. He discussed how mobility devices besides serving as a connectivity device can act as a major propeller in building the concept of IoT, where a non-living object with a sensor can correspond with a living being.

Kshitij M Kotak, Chairman – ASIRT said that while talking about disruptive technology, one has to talk about variable technology and Big Data. He cited the example of how the mygov.in platform uses business and social media intelligence to specifically target people. He said that technology in future will evolve to such an extent that 2 people would be able to read each other’s mind with the help of technology.
