A senior executive at Neuralink has sparked debate by warning that modern AI algorithms are “attacking the human brain.” Danish Hussein, Head of Surgery Mechanical Engineering, argued that trillion-dollar algorithms are designed to capture attention and influence thinking patterns.
In a series of posts, Danish Hussein, Head of Surgery Mechanical Engineering described algorithms as a “David vs Goliath” battle, urging users to resist systems that continuously shape what people see, think, and engage with online.
According to him, such algorithms risk eroding independent thought by constantly steering user behaviour.
Hussein emphasized that individuals must actively protect their cognitive freedom, warning that over-reliance on algorithm-driven content can limit curiosity and decision-making.
Experts broadly agree that social media algorithms are optimized to maximize engagement, often reinforcing user preferences and prolonging screen time.
Studies suggest this can contribute to addiction, reduced attention span, and ADHD-like symptoms, particularly among younger users.
Founded by Elon Musk, Neuralink is developing brain-computer interface technology to help humans interact directly with machines, especially aiding patients with paralysis.
