India's Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies (NMIMS) has crossed a milestone by successfully shifting its prestigious entrance test to a computer-based test format. The Narsee Monjee Management Aptitude Test (NMAT) was administered between January 30 and February 8, 2010 at test centres across India.
Pearson VUE, the global leader in administering CBT and the partner selected by NMIMS to take the NMAT on-line, credits the smooth candidate experience to its proven time-tested global processes. Pearson VUE, which conducts more than 7 million tests in 165 countries, said no test batch was cancelled due to technical or infrastructure issues, a notable first in India.
As part of its contingency plan, VUE had asked candidates to keep February 9th free in case their test needed to be rescheduled. But with a smooth rollout on each of the ten days of testing, the contingency was not invoked.
"The NMAT-2010 was a landmark event for NMIMS. Transition of the paper-based NMAT to CBT had its risks. However, we were reassured by Pearson VUE's depth of planning and contingency framework," said Prof. Rajan Saxena, Vice Chancellor, NMIMS.
“The all-round effort was designed to test candidates' knowledge and not their patience and administer a test keeping their needs and aspirations uppermost in mind,” he said. "The guiding philosophy for the NMAT team was that a test taker is not merely a roll number, but has a career and is the custodian of a family's aspirations," he added.
The NMAT results will be posted on the college website on March 2, 2010.
