Infrastructure and operations (I&O) teams across the Asia-Pacific region are heading into 2026 under mounting pressure from expanding hybrid and multicloud environments and the rapid rise of AI-driven workloads, according to a new report from Info-Tech Research Group.
The firm’s Infrastructure & Operations Priorities 2026 report finds that 52% of organizations in the region have identified reducing technical debt as a top priority, while 45% are focusing on optimizing cloud workloads. However, only 19% are prioritizing improvements in monitoring and observability, raising concerns about the ability of enterprises to manage increasingly complex IT environments.
The findings suggest that many organizations are scaling AI and cloud investments without strengthening governance and visibility, increasing the risk of cost overruns and operational instability.
Data from Info-Tech’s Future of IT 2026 survey indicates that AI workloads and consumption-based pricing models are introducing new financial unpredictability for enterprises operating across distributed environments. Without clear ownership structures and financial discipline, particularly through FinOps practices, IT teams may struggle to control spending as AI adoption accelerates.
“Infrastructure and operations teams cannot absorb the complexity of 2026 with approaches designed for a simpler era,” said Emily Sugerman, lead author of the report. She added that organizations need to modernize cloud operations, strengthen financial oversight, and improve observability to manage risk effectively.
The report also highlights that resilience in the coming year will depend on how well organizations align governance, operating models and workforce capabilities with the realities of hybrid and AI-driven environments.
As enterprises continue to invest in digital transformation across the region, the study underscores a shift away from simply adopting new technologies toward executing them with discipline and accountability. Organizations that can balance innovation with structured operational practices are likely to be better positioned to manage rising complexity and extract value from AI and cloud investments.
