Breaking News
Nxtra by Airtel, India’s leading data centre provider, has expanded its renewable energy portfolio by signing a new power-wheeling agreement with AMPIN Energy Transition, adding 125.65 MW of solar-wind hybrid energy through Inter-State Transmission System (ISTS)-connected projects. This milestone takes the total green energy partnership between the two companies to over 200 MW, reinforcing Nxtra’s leadership in sustainable data centre solutions and advancing its decarbonisation goals.
Ashish Arora, CEO of Nxtra by Airtel, stated, “Sustainability is our responsibility and opportunity to lead. Powering our digital infrastructure with over 200 MW of clean energy sets a benchmark for the industry and ensures tangible climate impact.”
Pinaki Bhattacharyya, Founder & CEO of AMPIN Energy Transition, added, “This partnership showcases how a seamless blend of inter-state and intra-state solutions can help customers achieve near 100% energy transition.”
The new capacity, equivalent to 205,167 MWh annually, will be delivered in two phases through captive solar-wind projects in Rajasthan and Karnataka. This will reduce Nxtra’s carbon footprint by ~149,156 tCO2e per year, contributing significantly to low-carbon computing. AMPIN, which already supplies solar power to Nxtra in Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, and Odisha, will now extend its presence to 11 additional states, enabling pan-India renewable energy integration.
Aligned with its Net Zero commitment and SBTi targets, Nxtra continues to adopt green energy solutions to reduce Scope 1 and 2 GHG emissions across its operations. This collaboration strengthens its commitment to climate-resilient digital infrastructure while supporting India’s clean energy transition.
