Developed by Delhi Police and Delhi International Airport Limited (DIAL), the smart police booth introduces India’s first fully digital airport policing system with e-FIR access, flight updates, and real-time passenger support
Ushering in a new era of technology-enabled policing aimed at improving passenger safety and convenience, a state-of-the-art smart police booth was inaugurated at Terminal 3 of Indira Gandhi International Airport in New Delhi. The facility was formally launched by L-G VK Saxena, alongside Delhi Police Commissioner Sanjay Arora.
The T3 smart police booth, developed jointly by Delhi Police and Delhi International Airport Limited (DIAL), part of the GMR Group, is India’s first fully digital police kiosk at a major airport. It offers a suite of advanced features including real-time flight updates, interactive information panels, and digital lodging of electronic First Information Reports (e-FIRs).
Equipped with high-speed internet, printers, scanners, and computers, the booth aims to support both smooth passenger movement and enhanced Delhi airport security. A dedicated CCTV system provides real-time monitoring of the terminal's entry and exit points. Trained male and female police officers will be available 24/7 to assist with emergencies, queries, or complaints.
Smart policing for modern travel
Speaking at the launch, the Lieutenant Governor described the project as a “leap forward in modern, citizen-centric policing.” He added that such initiatives demonstrate how smart infrastructure can enhance safety while keeping pace with evolving public needs.
Special Commissioner of Police (PTSD) Robin Hibu praised the initiative’s ability to streamline passenger support and enable faster grievance redressal through a smart police station model. He highlighted its role in fostering stronger connections between citizens and law enforcement.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (IGIA) Usha Rangnani noted that the smart police booth was designed with ease of use in mind. “Passengers can file e-FIRs, report lost items, print complaint copies, and check real-time flight details—all at the T3 Airport booth,” she said.
With the successful deployment of this model, the Delhi Police hopes it can serve as a blueprint for similar installations at other high-traffic transit hubs across India.
