ESDS has introduced Swaraj Cloud, an AI-autonomous sovereign cloud platform built and operated entirely in India, targeting enterprises and regulated sectors with Indian data residency, AI capabilities, compliance automation and infrastructure designed to meet evolving regulatory requirements.
ESDS Software Solution Ltd. has launched Swaraj Cloud, an AI-autonomous sovereign cloud platform designed, built and operated entirely on infrastructure located in India. The company said the platform aims to address the growing demand for sovereign cloud services among enterprises operating in regulated sectors by ensuring that data, workloads and cloud infrastructure remain under Indian jurisdiction.
Running on ESDS-owned physical infrastructure hosted in Indian data centres, Swaraj Cloud combines compute, AI, security and developer services while providing 100% Indian data residency. According to the company, the platform has been developed in response to evolving regulatory requirements, including the Digital Personal Data Protection (DPDP) Act 2023, the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology’s Cloud Selection Framework for government workloads, and cloud guidelines issued by the Reserve Bank of India.
Speaking on the launch, Piyush Somani, Promoter, Managing Director and Chairman, ESDS Software Solution Ltd., said, "India stands at the defining inflection point of its digital century. Over the last decade, India has built one of the world's largest Digital Public Infrastructure ecosystems, yet the foundation powering our digital economy continues to rely on foreign cloud platforms, foreign AI ecosystems, and imported compute. Today, over 70% of India's workloads continue to run on foreign infrastructure, resulting in significant economic outflows and strategic dependence on technologies beyond our control. The cost of inaction as a nation is reflected in geopolitical risks, compliance obligations and the increasing need for digital self-reliance.
It is this vision that inspired the creation of Swaraj Cloud - India's AI Autonomous Architect Cloud Platform, built in India, governed in India, and engineered for global scale. Purpose-built to deliver sovereign cloud capabilities through autonomous intelligence, hyper-scale architecture and AI-driven automation, Swaraj Cloud harnesses a comprehensive sovereign AI digital IT ecosystem that brings together 30+ services and 80+ integrated intelligent capabilities, enabling organizations to scale their digital transformation through a single, unified sovereign platform.”
A defining capability of Swaraj Cloud is its Prompt-to-Production architecture , powered by an integrated Solution Generator that enables organizations to transform a business requirement into a production-ready live environment.
Built on five foundational pillars - AI Intelligence, Scalability, Security, Compliance and Data Sovereignty - Swaraj Cloud seamlessly unifies Cloud Service Provider (CSP) and Managed Service Provider (MSP) capabilities into a single sovereign ecosystem.
The path ahead for India lies unequivocally in Digital Sovereignty , where our data, cloud, AI, compute, cybersecurity and critical digital infrastructure are developed, governed and continuously innovated within India. This is a collective national responsibility and ESDS is committed to enabling this vision by delivering a sovereign end-to-end AI and IT ecosystem that empowers large enterprises, governments and BFSI institutions. Our purpose extends to enabling the AtmaNirbhar Bharat mission and building sovereign digital foundations through platforms like Swaraj Cloud that will enable India's Sovereign AI future and strengthen its leadership in the age of Artificial Intelligence."
Platform designed around Indian data sovereignty
According to ESDS, Swaraj Cloud is built on infrastructure owned and operated by the company rather than reselling or rebranding foreign cloud services. The platform is intended to ensure that enterprise workloads remain within India and under Indian legal jurisdiction, reducing dependence on overseas infrastructure for critical digital operations.
The company said the platform integrates cloud service provider (CSP) and managed service provider (MSP) capabilities into a single ecosystem built around five pillars—AI intelligence, scalability, security, compliance and data sovereignty. It is targeted at organisations across banking, financial services, government, healthcare and other regulated industries that face stringent data residency and compliance obligations.
‘Prompt-to-Production’ automates cloud deployment
A key feature introduced with Swaraj Cloud is its Prompt-to-Production Solution Generator, an AI-powered deployment engine that automates cloud infrastructure creation. Enterprises can describe their requirements using natural language or a guided interface, after which the platform generates a cloud architecture, validates it against applicable compliance frameworks, prepares a detailed bill of materials with pricing in Indian rupees, and automatically deploys the environment.
The automated workflow includes requirement capture, architecture generation, compliance validation, pricing, deployment and live billing preview, enabling enterprises to review infrastructure and costs before provisioning resources. ESDS said the feature is designed to reduce cloud deployment and compliance timelines from weeks to minutes.
Commenting on the launch, Komal Somani, Whole-time Director, ESDS Software Solution Ltd., said, "Every regulated enterprise in India has been navigating a difficult trade-off, capable cloud infrastructure that does not meet sovereignty requirements, or sovereign infrastructure that does not meet capability requirements. Swaraj Cloud is built to remove that trade-off. With Prompt-to-Production, built-in compliance monitoring, and a sovereign AI platform, enterprises now have a single platform that meets regulatory obligations and operational demands without compromise."
AI, security and compliance services integrated
Beyond automated deployment, Swaraj Cloud includes a portfolio of AI, infrastructure, security and compliance services. These include GPU-enabled virtual machines for AI workloads, managed Jupyter Notebooks, MLOps capabilities, AI model governance, Kubernetes services, container registry, backup and recovery, software-defined networking and DDoS protection.
The platform also incorporates a built-in SIEM solution with MITRE ATT&CK threat categorisation, CERT-In breach notification integration and continuous compliance monitoring against frameworks such as PCI DSS, NIST and Trust Service Criteria (TSC). Billing is offered entirely in Indian rupees with real-time usage tracking, while the platform also includes a cloud marketplace, developer tools, SDKs and API documentation.
ESDS said Swaraj Cloud is available immediately for government organisations, public sector undertakings, BFSI institutions and other regulated enterprises. The company added that the platform is MeitY-empanelled and aligned with the DPDP Act.
