The quick commerce startup has unveiled its “All New Zepto Experience,” eliminating multiple fees to undercut Blinkit and Instamart in India’s ultra-competitive 10-minute delivery market
In a bold pricing move, Zepto has announced the complete removal of handling fees, rain and surge charges, and small cart fees on all orders. Under its new “All New Zepto Experience” initiative, the platform will also offer free delivery for orders above ₹99, setting a new affordability benchmark in the quick commerce segment.
For orders below ₹99, customers will pay only a ₹30 delivery fee, with all other charges waived. Zepto has also scrapped convenience fees on cigarette and tobacco orders. With this, the startup becomes the only major player to offer zero delivery charges at the lowest threshold in the industry, significantly undercutting its key competitors — Blinkit and Swiggy Instamart.
Competing on price amid growing rivalry
A fee comparison shows Zepto’s pricing strategy is considerably leaner. While Zepto charges ₹30 for low-value orders, Blinkit imposes ₹54 and Instamart nearly ₹65 after including delivery, handling, and small cart fees with applicable GST. For identical items priced under ₹100, Zepto’s total order cost is up to 25–30% lower than its rivals.
The advantage widens for higher-value purchases. Zepto waives all delivery and handling charges once the order exceeds ₹99, whereas Blinkit and Instamart continue to charge fees until orders cross ₹199.
A calculated bet on market expansion
Industry experts view this as a strategic push to capture market share amid rising competition and customer acquisition costs. While the zero-fee model boosts affordability and user loyalty, analysts caution that sustaining such aggressive pricing could pressure margins in the long term.
For now, Zepto’s latest move has ignited a new price war in India’s quick commerce sector, promising tangible benefits for cost-conscious consumers.
