A shocking revelation has been made. According to the latest update, the new Chairman and interim Chief Executive from BlackBerry(NASDAQ:BBRY) is planning to concentrate more on software and services business not devices.
It is reportedly said that the CEO Thorsten Heins is stepping down and John Chen has been appointed as the Chairman of BlackBerry's board of directors and interim CEO. It is worth noticing here that Chen is the former CEO of software data company Sybase.
Earlier, officials from BlackBerry were in talks to sell the company. However, now the officials are mulling to abandon the sale. Instead, it will raise $1 billion by issuing convertible notes to a group of long-term investors, including its largest shareholder, Fairfax Financial Holdings. Potential buyers of BlackBerry include Facebook, Lenovo and private equity firms such as Cerberus Capital Management LP.
Well! It is difficult to say anything for now as no spokesperson from BlackBerry has confirmed the news. So, stay tuned to get more information on this.
