The new full-frame mirrorless camera and wide-aperture lens combine high resolution, professional-grade performance, and affordability for filmmakers and photographers seeking versatility and precision
Canon has announced two major additions to its EOS R mirrorless system — the EOS R6 Mark III full-frame camera and the RF45mm F1.2 STM lens — designed to meet the evolving needs of professionals across photography and filmmaking. The new model succeeds the EOS R6 Mark II, launched in 2023, bringing higher resolution, enhanced speed, and improved reliability.
Featuring a 32.5-megapixel sensor, the EOS R6 Mark III delivers sharper details and greater cropping flexibility. It supports high-speed continuous shooting of up to 40 frames per second with an electronic shutter, and 12 fps with a mechanical or electronic first-curtain shutter. The camera’s pre-continuous shooting mode records up to 20 frames before the shutter is fully pressed, ensuring users never miss a decisive moment.
Enhanced autofocus algorithms improve subject tracking and accuracy, while the Register People Priority feature — inherited from the flagship EOS R1 — allows prioritization of pre-registered subjects, ideal for event, concert, or sports photography.
Advanced video capabilities and innovative design
For video creators, the EOS R6 Mark III introduces 7K 60p internal RAW recording, 3:2 Open Gate recording, and support for multiple professional workflows. It also includes Canon Log 2, HLG gamma, and compatibility with Cinema EOS Custom Picture profiles, providing flexibility for post-production. The addition of waveform monitors, false colors, and zebras ensures precise exposure control.
Canon has refined usability with enhanced ergonomics, customizable buttons, and compatibility with the LP-E6P battery and BG-R20 grip for extended shooting sessions.
RF45mm F1.2 STM: Power meets accessibility
The new RF45mm F1.2 STM lens is Canon’s most affordable f/1.2 large-aperture lens to date, offering professional-grade bokeh and exceptional low-light performance in a lightweight, 346g form. On APS-C cameras like the EOS R50, it delivers a 72mm equivalent focal length, making it ideal for portraits, street photography, and close-up work.
Built with PMo aspherical elements and gear-type STM technology, the lens ensures edge-to-edge sharpness and smooth autofocus. Its compact size makes it a perfect match for both full-frame and APS-C cameras, enhancing mobility for creators on the move.
Together, the EOS R6 Mark III and RF45mm F1.2 STM deliver a powerful yet cost-efficient combination, bringing Canon’s cutting-edge imaging technology to a broader range of professionals and enthusiasts alike.
