Movers & Shakers

Cohesity and enterprise data protection, today announced the appointment of Greg Statton as Chief Technology Officer (CTO) for the Asia Pacific and Japan (APJ) region. In this newly created role, Statton will spearhead technology innovation, data resilience strategies, and cybersecurity initiatives across APJ, reinforcing Cohesity’s mission to deliver next-generation data protection and cloud-native security platforms following its successful integration with Veritas’ enterprise data protection business.
In addition to his new responsibilities, Statton will continue leading the development of Cohesity’s globally recognized AI-driven data management solution – Gaia, reporting directly to Sunil Moolchandani, Chief Strategy Officer at Cohesity.
Statton’s appointment signals Cohesity’s intensified focus on APJ — particularly Japan — as a priority growth market and strategic hub for cloud computing, disaster recovery, and cyber resilience solutions in FY26. With businesses facing increasing threats from ransomware, data breaches, and operational disruptions, Cohesity aims to meet the growing demand for integrated AI and data security solutions, real-time threat detection, and automated data governance tools tailored to regional market needs.
The new role of Field CTO for APJ will ensure customer-specific requirements are addressed through targeted research and development (R&D), AI-driven security innovation, and customized enterprise solutions. It will also support deeper collaborations with government organizations, large enterprises, and regulated industries across the region.
“Greg brings a rare blend of technical expertise, regional market insight, and strategic foresight that will be critical as we expand our footprint in Asia Pacific and Japan. His leadership will be instrumental in helping organizations adopt advanced AI security platforms, build cyber resilience frameworks, and safeguard their data assets in an evolving threat landscape,” said Sunil Moolchandani.
Greg Statton’s appointment builds on his decade-long tenure at Cohesity, where he has held leadership roles including VP of AI Solutions and Senior Director of Data & AI. He has also contributed to cloud and security advancements at CITRIX, Nutanix, and as a Google product development specialist, helping enterprises across industries deploy cloud infrastructure, data backup solutions, and AI-powered analytics tools.
“In today’s complex data protection ecosystem, enterprises in Asia Pacific and Japan require trusted technology partners that understand their unique challenges and can deliver customizable cybersecurity solutions, cloud optimization tools, and data compliance frameworks. ’m excited to support the Cohesity APJ team at this pivotal moment and drive innovation, growth, and security for businesses — especially in Japan — as they navigate digital transformation and regulatory requirements,” said Greg Statton.
With this strategic move, Cohesity is poised to lead the way in cloud data protection, cybersecurity solutions, and AI-driven performance optimization, helping organizations safeguard critical data while unlocking new efficiencies and resilience in their IT operations.
