The Confederation of Associations of South India organized CONFED-ITA Cricket Cup 2014 on 22nd & 23rd February, 2014 at Shankar Polytechnic College Grouds, Tirunelveli. It was hosted by CDAT-Tirunelveli. CONFED Cricket Cup 2014 was inaugurated by the President, R. Muthiah Pillai.
This year, 16 District Associations participated in the cricket tournament and were divided in to four Groups vide Pool A, B, C & D. The League Matches were conducted and eight teams were qualified for the next round.
The qualified teams were: TITA-Tirupur, CDAT-Tirunelveli, COSWAD-Dindigul, ITAT-Theni, CITA-Coimbatore, ACT-T-Trichy, NDITA-Namakkal and VAIT-Vellore. These teams were sponsored by the regional distributors and vendors like Bloom Computers – Dell (CITA-Coimbatore), Abi Computers – Lenovo (TITA-Tirupur), PC World – Apple (ITAT-Theni), Avalon Data Products – HP (CDAT-Tirunelveli), Canon (COSWAD-Dindigul) and Associate Sponsor was CellIT.
TITA-Tirupur and COSWAD-Dindigul made up to the finals which was a 20-over match. Dindigul managed to score 103 runs in 19.4 overs with the loss of all wickets. Tirupur, on the other hand, chased the target in 16 overs for the loss of three wickets.
TITA-Tirupur, the winner of CONFED-ITA 2014, got the prize money of Rs.1 lakh, while the runner-up COSWAD-Dindigul got Rs.50,000/- as cash prize.
CONFED-ITA Secretary C. Arumugam said, “This tournament shows the professionalism of the members who have come forward wholeheartedly and everybody witnessed the nice hospitality of the Tirunelveli Association (CDAT).”
At the end of the match, the event had an award felicitation ceremony.
