Aditya Infotech's 30% investment in BLUE signals a strategic shift from traditional CCTV hardware to AI-powered, intelligent video infrastructure.
Aditya Infotech Limited, owner of India's leading surveillance brand CP PLUS, has announced a strategic investment of ₹45.4 crore to acquire a 30% stake in KGraph AI Solutions Private Limited (BLUE), an Indian AI-powered video compression technology company. The move represents a significant step towards transforming CP PLUS from a hardware-focused surveillance company into an integrated, AI-driven security solutions provider.
The Board-approved transaction, comprising fresh equity investment and secondary share purchases, values BLUE at approximately ₹151 crore on a post-money basis. Subject to customary closing conditions, the acquisition strengthens Aditya Infotech's technology portfolio under its ambitious CP PLUS 2.0 transformation strategy.
AI Compression Could Change Surveillance Economics
At the heart of the investment is BLUE's proprietary Semantic Codec technology, which applies perception-aware compression techniques to conventional H.264 video streams. By identifying redundant visual information while preserving essential details, the technology can reportedly reduce video storage and bandwidth requirements by up to 90%.
This capability addresses one of the surveillance industry's biggest challenges: the escalating cost of storing, transmitting and processing enormous volumes of high-resolution video.
Importantly, BLUE's technology is designed to operate on cost-efficient edge hardware without dedicated GPU infrastructure. Its compatibility with existing cameras and recording systems could allow organisations to modernise their surveillance infrastructure without expensive hardware replacement.
For enterprises operating thousands of cameras, even modest reductions in storage and bandwidth consumption can translate into significant savings. A reduction approaching 90%, where technically achievable, could fundamentally change the economics of large-scale surveillance deployments.
However, actual savings will depend on video content, resolution, compression settings, retention requirements and the degree to which critical forensic details are preserved.
From CCTV Hardware to Intelligent Video Infrastructure
The investment reflects a broader industry transformation. Surveillance systems are evolving beyond passive recording towards intelligent platforms capable of real-time analytics, anomaly detection, automated alerts and actionable insights.
Smart cities, airports, manufacturing facilities, transportation networks, government infrastructure and enterprises increasingly require surveillance platforms that combine AI analytics, edge computing, cloud integration and efficient data management.
BLUE's Semantic Video Data Lake technology extends this proposition by converting continuous video streams into searchable, structured and actionable enterprise information.
This opens opportunities for CP PLUS to develop advanced solutions involving intelligent video search, incident investigation, operational monitoring and predictive security analytics.
Rather than competing exclusively on camera specifications and hardware pricing, CP PLUS could increasingly differentiate itself through proprietary software, AI capabilities and integrated security services.
Strengthening India's Deep-Tech Ecosystem
BLUE is led by six co-founders with substantial industry experience and academic backgrounds that include IIT Bombay and IIM Bangalore. The company reports a pipeline of ten patents, including three filed applications and seven under development.
Under the proposed partnership, BLUE will continue operating independently while collaborating with Aditya Infotech's research and engineering teams across Noida, Ahmedabad and Taiwan.
The arrangement combines BLUE's expertise in computer vision, embedded systems and compression algorithms with CP PLUS's manufacturing capabilities, distribution network and established customer relationships.
For BLUE, the partnership provides access to a significantly larger commercial ecosystem. For CP PLUS, it creates an opportunity to integrate specialised Indian intellectual property into products serving domestic and international markets.
Strategic Implications: The Battle Moves to the AI Layer
The surveillance industry's competitive landscape is changing rapidly. Camera manufacturers can no longer rely solely on image quality, product availability or pricing to sustain market leadership.
The next competitive advantage will increasingly come from how efficiently surveillance platforms process visual data, identify security threats and deliver actionable intelligence.
AI-powered compression is particularly relevant because rising camera resolutions and expanding deployment footprints are driving exponential growth in video data.
Reducing infrastructure costs could also make advanced surveillance more accessible to small businesses, industrial facilities and public-sector organisations operating under constrained budgets.
Nevertheless, compression efficiency alone does not guarantee superior security outcomes. Independent validation of image fidelity, forensic usability, cybersecurity resilience and AI detection performance will remain essential.
Privacy, data governance and responsible use of video analytics must also be embedded into the architecture as surveillance systems become more intelligent and interconnected.
Leadership Perspective
Aditya Khemka, Managing Director, Aditya Infotech Limited, described video compression as foundational to the next phase of surveillance, noting that growing camera deployments and higher resolutions are making storage and data transmission increasingly expensive.
He emphasised that BLUE's technology could address these challenges using existing camera infrastructure while advancing CP PLUS's vision of intelligent, connected security.
Kunal Kislay, Co-founder and CEO, BLUE, highlighted the opportunity to scale the company's AI-native video infrastructure through CP PLUS's engineering strengths, customer reach and established surveillance ecosystem.
The Bigger Picture: Surveillance Is Becoming a Data Business
The ₹45.4 crore investment is strategically significant beyond the acquisition of a minority stake. It demonstrates how surveillance companies are moving upstream into intellectual property, AI algorithms and data infrastructure to capture greater value.
For CP PLUS, the potential opportunity extends beyond selling cameras and recording equipment to offering intelligent video platforms, cloud-connected services and recurring software-driven capabilities.
For India's technology ecosystem, the transaction illustrates the growing commercial importance of homegrown deep-tech innovation and specialised AI intellectual property.
The larger industry message is clear: The future of surveillance will not be determined by how many cameras an organisation deploys, but by how intelligently, securely and economically it converts video into actionable information.
With BLUE's technology, CP PLUS is positioning itself to compete not merely as a surveillance hardware manufacturer, but as a potential provider of AI-powered video intelligence infrastructure.
The ultimate measure of success will be how effectively this technology translates into commercially scalable products, measurable customer savings and demonstrably stronger security outcomes.
