DataWind introduces UbiSurfer-7

With free Internet connectivity and eliminating the complexity of getting online, DataWind has launched its ultra-portable netbook - the UbiSurfer-7 for "Ubiquitous Surfing" in Madurai. With the UbiSurfer, you pay for the device - and not the usage. For the average user, there are no monthly fees, airtime tariffs, contracts or recurring fees. DataWind has appointed M/s Praises Enterprises as one of its distributors from Madurai for the Ubisurfer-7.

Setting a new standard for anytime and anywhere Internet access, the UbiSurfer is not only armed with Wi-Fi and LAN connectivity, but also has an in-built cellular modem and an embedded SIM card that allows access to the Internet anywhere a mobile phone signal is available all over India.

Suneet S. Tuli, President & CEO, Datawind, commented, "Our goal was to deliver the real web, fast, free, anytime and everywhere and the UbiSurfer is another step in the company's vision of taking the Internet to the masses. We have aggressive plans to target the South Indian market as we see immense potential in the region due to its high Internet consumption levels. We are confident of making significant inroads in this burgeoning market through our partnership with Praises Enterprises."

The UbiSurfer is also a practical computer that comes pre-loaded with the Microsoft Windows CE 6.0 operating system and Softmaker Office Suite. The new UbiSurfer boots up in ten seconds, and applications launch instantly. The netbook also has a 7” screen and weighs only 700 grams.
