Detel targets a turnover of Rs.100 crore this fiscal
Detel, having carved its niche in the nooks and corners of the country with its most affordable feature phones, is targeting a two-fold growth this fiscal year. Whereas last year the company closed the fiscal at Rs.52 crores, it is now eyeing a turnover of Rs.100 crore in FY 2018-19.
Detel started its journey in India back in 2017 with the launch of the world’s most economical feature phone, Detel D1, at a price of just Rs.299. This was followed by a series of feature phones priced at Rs.399, Rs.499, Rs.599 going up to Rs.1,199. As on date, the Detel D1 retails for Rs.349 owing to an upgraded chipset. The company has a vision of #connecting40croreIndians, who still consider mobile phone as a luxury. The company is currently focusing on strengthening its foothold in the tier-2, -3 and -4 cities.
Yogesh Bhatia, MD, Detel, says, “We have seen a tremendous response for our 2G feature phones in the market. In these phones, we have been incorporating various value-added features like Bluetooth Dialler, Wireless FM, Big Speakers, and Talking feature, among others, making our products more appealing to customers. We are positive that in the next year, we will be launching entry-level budget smartphones and 4G feature phones alongside other products to cater to an extended market. To fuel our next level of expansion, we are also in talks with investors for our first equity funding.”
Detel has successfully sold over 28 lakh units of feature phones since August 2017. The company had also launched over 20 products in the festive season across categories like Bluetooth Speakers, LED & LCD TVs, Mobile Accessories, and feature phones. The company has successfully established a customer base of over 30 lakh Detel Happy Customers.
