The Department of Information Technology (DIT) is all set to engage external consultants to help develop and implement a policy framework to spur the manufacturing of electronics in the country. It is scouting for domain experts in the areas of techno-economics, techno-procurement, human resources, and communications to be a part of a project management unit that the DIT is sewing together with an eye on making India a lucrative destination for electronic manufacturing.
The Centre has publicly stated it is working on a full policy prescription to spur electronics manufacturing in the country.
The DIT is currently in the process of interviewing candidates who will be with it on a full-time basis for the next two years for the same. It is expected to finalize a team of eight consultants and a support staff of additional fifteen within the next two months. The scheme in the offering is the outcome of recommendations by a task force which was constituted in 2009.
