Drone Threat: Security Breach at Telangana Secretariat

Hyderabad: In a serious security breach, Telangana State Special Protection Force (TGSPF) personnel apprehended two individuals for unauthorized drone activity over the Telangana State Secretariat.

The incident, which took place on March 11, came to light on Friday. Following the breach, police registered a case against four individuals at the Saifabad police station.

The alert was raised when security personnel at the South East Tower spotted a drone hovering over the lawn area and near their post. Recognizing the potential threat, they swiftly reported the incident to their superiors.

A search operation led to the apprehension of Yetala Vamshi, a camera operator, and S. Nagaraju, a supervisor with GHMC (Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation). The drone was seized, and both individuals were handed over to the police.

Authorities are investigating the intent behind the drone operation, whether it was for personal, professional, or other purposes. With security concerns at government installations on the rise, officials reiterated that flying drones over sensitive locations without authorization is illegal and punishable under law.

Further investigations are ongoing to determine any additional involvement and the exact purpose of the drone activity.
