EDIMAX Technology has announced the launch of EW-7822UAC wireless USB adapter, setting a new global standard for Wi-Fi adapters.
The EW-7822UAC supports USB 3.0, the newest specification of the USB standard which specifies a maximum data transmission speed of 5Gbps, approximately 10 times faster than the current USB 2.0 standard which specifies a maximum speed of 480Mbps. USB 3.0 support means that next generation 802.11ac Wi-Fi speeds can truly be realized, enabling consumers to upgrade their existing PC or laptop's capability to run at the fast Wi-Fi speeds.
The EW-7822UAC also supports the draft 802.11ac standard and is the first adapter to offer 802.11ac speeds together with USB 3.0 connectivity. In addition, the new EW-7822UAC provides dual-band connectivity for the 2.4GHz or 5GHz band.
