Epson organizes 7th Logistics Meet in Sri Lanka

Epson has organized its 7th Annual Logistics Meet 2010 in Colombo, Sri Lanka. Choosing a foreign locale for the first time for such a gathering, the meeting was held to review the current year’s performance and discuss plans for the coming year and was attended by the entire Logistics team, including those from Epson warehouses across India. The Meet was also attended by the Epson logistics partners, including Forwarding, Clearing and Transport Vendors.

The 7th Logistics meet had “Together we Save, Together we Win” as the theme for this year’s event. With the focus being on cost reduction and optimizing of resources the discussions centered around ways to improve in these areas. T. Sukumar, Deputy Country Manager, Epson India, while addressing the team, appreciated their efforts in controlling costs and advised the team to focus on Process Improvement in the coming year.

Commenting on the meet, J. K. Suresh, General Manager – Commercial, Logistics and IT, Epson India, said, “Our Logistics Project ‘Danush’ was implemented successfully for the last two years to achieve cost reductions. While we intend to continue with ‘Project Danush’ this year as well, we will also be forming a new project team whose objective will be to enforce process improvement with the main objective of achieving new levels of efficiency and savings. We now have 12 warehouses strategically located to meet the growing customers demand for Epson Products in India. Last year, we also extended the IT infrastructure for the entire warehouse to have effective online access. The task now is to take efficiencies to the next level. Logistics has a key role to play in the next phase of the company’s growth as well.”

The meeting was used as a forum to discuss ways and means of better synchronizing output from all the logistics partners to improve overall efficiency. Some key strategic decisions were also taken in order to have more synchronized working between all the parties involved.
