Seiko Epson Corporation (Epson) has announced that it has shipped a total of 90 million high-temperature polysilicon (HTPS) TFT liquid crystal panels for 3LCD projectors.
In recent times, applications for 3LCD projectors have expanded as advantages such as high brightness and contrast have been augmented with functions such as 3D and interactive capability. In the office, for example, projectors have become essential equipment for business presentations. Projectors also offer effective support for events in the commercial segment by delivering lectures, art and entertainment in large spaces. These applications just scratch the surface of the potential of projection technology.
Nobuyuki Shimotome, Deputy COO, Epson's Visual Products Operations Division, said, "Epson has consistently strived to develop leading-edge products of the HTPS panels. Epson will expand and enhance its HTPS lineup with panels that contribute to the outstanding colour brightness, detailed images, energy efficiency and reliability of 3LCD projectors.”
With projectors firmly established as an important communications tool, Epson is confident that demand for its HTPS will continue to grow.
