ESET seeks to join top antivirus brigade in India

The antivirus company ESET is aiming to get a spot amongst the top-5 antivirus brands in India in next two years.

As per a latest update, ESET currently stands at number eight position in antivirus brands in India. Presently, the company has 2,500 active resellers. However, ESET is aiming to double the number of resellers by the end of next year.

According to Pankaj Jain, Director, ESS Distribution, the sole distributor of ESET in India, “According to Gartner, ESET has a 5 percent share of the total installed base of 70 million PCs in India. We have grown 200 percent in 2012 and expect to grow 150 percent in 2013. For this, we are strengthening our channel and penetrating deeper into Class B and C cities. Plans are also afoot to convert our free home users to paid licensees, and acquire new customers in the home, SOHO and SMB segments.”

Taking into consideration the market stats, it is found; ESET earns most of its revenue from the education and government verticals in the enterprise segment. Recently, it grabbed an important deal. Under the deal agreement, ESET has to take more than 15,000 licenses from the Pearson Group, and sold 7,000 licenses and installed its SMTP gateway at BHU. In the government segment, it sold more than 10,000 licenses to the DRDO.

Jain further added, “We have strengthened our sales team from 12 to 20, and will improve our partner program and back-end incentives for enterprise VARs,” Jain informed. “We will also increase the number of our direct partners from the current 350 to 500 by December 2013.”
