2 min read0 views

Forbes Marshall has selected IBM’s robust hardware platform to support their ERP. Forbes Marshall, after careful evaluation, chose IBM Power 6+ P550 servers with virtualization and DS 5020 storage for their server and storage requirements. The ability to move about resources dynamically based on business needs would help them save up to 40% on TCO compared to traditional solution of separate physical competitive servers, in addition to greater ROI and utilization.

Forbes Marshall required a cost-effective scalable solution which would take care of their existing workload and also support their new upgraded Oracle Applications environment for the next 3-4 years. The application will have the flexibility to redefine workloads for their ERP production environment.  IBM secured the deal after demonstrating the value proposition on total cost of operation, clear strategy, technical capabilities, and an assured roadmap for scalability. Apart from superior performance per core and the legendary reliability of the POWER-based solutions, it is the flexibility attribute that played a key role in Forbes Marshall selecting IBM.

“The value proposition of IBM’s overall solution for us was unmatched. We have had a long-term association with IBM. IBM infrastructure gives us the capacity, performance, reliability and availability, elements that are critical to help our ERP set-up, backbone of our business operations, to perform as enablers facilitating business growth,” said Sharat Airani, Manager – IT, Forbes Marshall.

“IBM Power 6+ processor-based servers and our storage solutions help address the unique requirements of our clients as they begin their journey to build a dynamic infrastructure. Forbes Marshall India recognized and realized that they needed to build a robust, dynamic infrastructure to address their current and future expansion plans. IBM is happy to engage with Forbes Marshall in their vision of being the leaders in process efficiencies,” said Ajay Mittal, Vice-President – General Business, Systems and Technology Group, IBM India/SA.
