Google has rolled out its AI-powered Virtual Apparel Try On tool in India, giving shoppers a new way to preview clothes online before purchasing. The feature lets users upload a full-body photograph — then virtually “try on” tops, dresses, jackets, bottoms and even shoes by simply tapping the “Try It On” icon on supported apparel listings.
Powered by a custom AI model, the tool simulates how garments drape, stretch or fold on different body shapes — offering an experience akin to a fitting room. Users can experiment with multiple outfits easily, helping eliminate guesswork and boosting confidence when shopping online.
The rollout comes just as India heads into its festive shopping season — a period that typically sees a surge in online fashion purchases. By offering a more immersive, personalised shopping experience, Google aims to make online clothing shopping more convenient, transparent, and satisfying for Indian consumers.
