Guardrails Alliance Adds $1.93M to Oppose AI-Backed Candidates

“Americans are tired of pay-to-play politics, and Guardrails is ready to expose these corrupt politicians and the special interests backing them.”

Guardrails Alliance is announcing an additional $1.93M in ad buys of the general election that will oppose candidates in four districts who are backed by AI industry super PAC Leading the Future.

Funded by Trump-aligned billionaire tech executives OpenAI President Greg Brockman, Palantir co-founder Joe Lonsdale, and Andreessen Horowitz partner Marc Andreessen, among others, Leading the Future has $140 million for their anti-regulation agenda to prevent and control any commonsense discussion around sensible AI policy – making them one of the largest single-issue super PACs this cycle. Brockman donated $12.5 million to both LTF and MAGA, Inc, while Andreessen donated $25 million to LTF and his venture capital firm donated an additional $50 million. Andreessen has also donated to MAGA, Inc. and is one of the largest Republican donors in the country this cycle.

Guardrails’s ad buys come after an initial spend of $1.2M against Republican nominees in two key swing districts, Aaron Flint in MT-1 and Jay Feely in CA-34, as well as Democratic incumbent Jimmy Gomez in CA-34. The new spend will include an additional $400,000 TV buy against Flint, $350,000 digital buy against Feely, and $600,000 against Gomez. Guardrails Alliance will also enter the tight NC-1 race with a $600,000 ad buy against Republican Laurie Buckhout, who has received over half a million in support from Leading the Future.

“We’ve seen Leading the Future use the same playbook across the country, trying to buy candidates who will put Big AI CEOs in control of how they’re regulated ,” said Shaunna Thomas, Executive Director of Guardrails Alliance. “But from California to North Carolina, out of touch AI Billionaires should not get to control who represents working Americans nor the guardrails that are put in place to protect us. This isn’t a partisan issue – Americans are tired of pay-to-play politics, and Guardrails is ready to expose these corrupt politicians and the special interests backing them.”

Guardrails released a poll earlier this month on the CA-34 race which highlighted the unpopularity of LTF and Big AI with voters. In MT-1, LTF’s Republican super PAC American Mission, spent over $590,000 in the Republican primary supporting Aaron Flint. Now Flint faces off against Democratic nominee Sam Forstag, a smokejumper and union leader endorsed by Sen. Bernie Sanders, Rep. Ocasio-Cortez, and others. In AZ-1, Leading the Future has supported former NFL placekicker Jay Feely since the Republican primary – one of the most competitive swing seats LTF has engaged with this cycle. In NC-1, Leading the Future has spent over $500,000 in support of Laurie Buckhout.Â
