How do you differentiate your solutions from those of your competitors?
The bring-your-own-device (BYOD) trend provides enterprises with a new option for expanding video conferencing beyond the executive suite and the conference room. Avaya understands the need for collaboration among employees and lets you create virtual conference rooms. For us, video conferencing is not just about putting more hardware into the network. Scopia video conferencing solutions are now also changing to accommodate mobile users. This is paving the way for democratization of Video Conferencing (VC), whereby any employee at any level can access Scopia, being anywhere in the world.
What is your forecast on the future of managed video conferencing segment?
Managed video conferencing is provided in a hosted model by the service providers. In India, managed video conferencing is evolving.According to F&S, 10–15% of the market is captured by the managed VC service providers. One of the primary offerings from these Service Providers is to offer Telepresence type of VC infrastructure.
With the advent of 3G and now 4G technology, we see a rise in the adoption of Video-as-a-Service. Also, with the growing trend of consumerization of technology and the adoption of the BYOD trend among organizations, there is a clear preference towards the opex model as compared to the capex investment.
Video conferencing has evolved from being a standalone environment to an SIP application in a unified communications environment. The globalization of video B-to-B communities is challenging the existing base of video MSPs. Since technology is advancing, video conferencing business has offered a great opportunity.
What, according to you, are the key factors a customer looks for when he chooses a video conferencing solution?
Video conferencing is entering the mainstream of enterprise use at the personal level. Technologies like virtualization, BYOD, and the cloud have already impacted the video conferencing market and the trend will accelerate in the coming years. Employees can now communicate from any location in the world. Video conferencing solutions are also changing to accommodate mobile users. There is a huge trend of people/businesses adopting ad-hoc desktop/mobile-based video conferencing rather than a scheduled room-based video conferencing. Businesses are looking at integrating their traditional room-based video conferencing seamlessly with desktop/mobile-based video conferencing.
