Vishal Dhupar,
MD, South Asia - NVIDIA
Please tell us about your current role and past industry experience?
In my role as Managing Director, I lead the Sales and Marketing operations for NVIDIA in South Asia. I am responsible for the development and execution of the region's strategic plans. With over two decades of experience in the IT industry, I bring extensive industry experience to my team. My main expertise is in the area of change management and I have played an active role in understanding, accepting and applying change as per business requirements during the Symantec-Veritas merger specifically in the Indian market. During my career at Symantec, I was felicitated with the IT-People “Young Achiever” Award for excellence in IT.
Previously, I held the position of Managing Director at Symantec and Autodesk and prior to that I was the Director - Sales at Sun Microsystems India. Also, I have had stints with Digital Corporation and Silicon Graphics in my working career.
How are you maintaining leadership of NVIDIA in India?
In my opinion, “leadership” is a term which connotes an effective and honest relationship with one's team, customers and business aides. A good leader is one who can build a team where every individual is a unique and irreplaceable element. I handpicked my own team and have given them the liberty to colour outside the lines when it comes to our business.
I strongly believe in the words of George S. Patton: “Don't tell people how to do things, tell them what to do and let them surprise you with their results.” Thereby, to foster effective teamwork I do not work alone, but try to guide my team to firstly prepare themselves from challenges and anticipate the futuristic trends in the industry to tag relevant opportunities for the business.
How is your service support network spread in India?
Our distributors and OEM partners provide a comprehensive pan-India service support for our products.
Do you have any specific initiatives towards channel empowerment?
Today, we have over 1,000 partners in India and are continually witnessing growth in the network. Our channel partners are the face of our solutions - they interact with end-consumers and they play a significant role in promulgating our vision, the ecosystem availability, and various use cases and options that we have enabled. We believe that our channel partners are an extended family of NVIDIA. The growth potential is huge.
To provide effective training to our channel partners about our brands and products, we have created a periodic training/workshop which we call as NTRAIN. This is a regular process where we reach out to our customers, i.e. the channel partners, and give them deep insight about all the latest and upcoming product/technology.
