2 min read0 views

HCL Infosystems has signed a prestigious contract of Rs.110 crore with the Government of Gujarat, which is aimed at speeding development in the tribal districts of the state. HCL Infosystems has been chosen to implement the project envisioned by the Chief Minister (Vanbandhu Kalyan Yojana) under a transparent model based on Public-Private Partnership, wherein the Government will keep a close watch on the progress and services delivered. The move is expected to strengthen the inclusive economic growth of the state.

Under the scope, HCL will supply PCs with biometric fingerprint scanner and UPS to over 7,000 schools across the state. It would implement the biometric-based attendance system, offer facility management and run teacher training programmes to supply and implement robust education software effectively at schools. The programme strongly underlines the need to focus on launching result-oriented initiatives, involving local people for the benefit of the tribes and forging strong convergence with various departments of the Government responsible for implementation. The project will focus on Ashram Shala, Adrashnovasi Shala, Eklavaya, primary and upper primary schools.

“Today, the need to create a progressive environment of inclusive growth is more than ever before. We deeply appreciate the Government’s vision and commitment to take IT to the grassroot levels of the state. With the experience and in-depth understanding of the unique Indian needs, we are confident of quality delivery in such a complex project that involves reaching out to the remotest part of the state. With focus on harnessing private initiatives in a mutually beneficial manner, such programmes will lead tribal communities into the new age,” said Ajai Chowdhry, Chairman & Chief Executive Officer, HCL Infosystems Ltd.

HCL Infosystems will collaborate with the Tribal and Education Department of Gujarat to facilitate capturing of online attendance data for both students and teachers in schools. Under the existing programmes where the Government has been giving grant for schools in the tribal area basis student attendance, this system will enable generation of real-time data and effective utilization of grants for a transparent education system at all levels in the state. The system will also help the government to study education patterns and dropout rates across regions.
