HCL Infosystems has bagged a contract from the Madhya Pradesh Government for implementing India's largest food-coupon based Targeted Public Distribution System (TPDS) in the state. The company would be involved in setting up an efficient model of food & civil supplies distribution in the state based on the UIDAI guidelines, for over 10 million expected transactions per month at Rs.10.98 spread over 78 months.
While the BPL and AAY families would get access to the scheme for free, the APL families will be paying a one-time subsidized registration fee of Rs.250 only. The deployment would not only make use of technology to increase efficiency and transparency in the current system with food coupons distributed to the BPL, AAY and APL families but also generate 50 million UID numbers after all the verification and de-duplication process.
J. V. Ramamurthy, President & COO, HCL Infosystems, said, "Public Distribution System is vital for sustained life of the people living below poverty line and this project is a step in the right direction to make the Public Distribution System more robust and effective, empowering the underprivileged with systems that are truly people centric."
The project will be implemented in four phases over the period of 16-18 months. This critical project is expected to also generate employment for over 3,000 people.
