With the aim to extend its leadership in virtualization, Hitachi Data Systems (HDS)has unveiled industry’s first unified storage product that aims to provide enterprise-class virtualization for all data types.

The new Hitachi Unified Storage VM (HUS VM) enables 90 percent faster data migration and 30 percent better total cost of ownership (TCO) compared to non-virtualized systems.

Vivekanand Venugopal, VP& General Manager, India, Hitachi Data Systems, stated, “No other IT systems company today offers the combination of performance, scalability and virtualization capabilities that Hitachi Data Systems does with the new HUS VM.Customers can now deploy storage for all data types and easily grow to meet expanding requirements while still meeting service level objectives for critical business applications. They can meet these business needs and still control the costs of managing their most valuable information.”

Supported by Hitachi Command Suite management software as part of a single software management platform, HUS VM simplifies operations and enables more efficient storage management across all virtualized storage assets, including multivendor storage.

It is also claimed that HUS VM is the only unified storage product to provide a 100 percent data availability guarantee.

“The strategic partnership with Hitachi Data Systems allows Wipro to create and go to market with compelling solutions that enable customers to effectively manage their critical business applications. The revolutionary virtualization platform, Hitachi Unified Storage VM, provides shared services while allowing customers to manage all data types. It will increase IT and business alignment by significantly reducing OPEX and administration efforts while increasing utilization and reclaimed capacity for customers,” stated Rohit Adlakha, General Manager & BU Head – Infrastructure Technology Solutions, Wipro Limited, India.
