On the back of the success of its growing range of 3G Smartphones, Idea Cellular has introduced two new 3G Smartphones in the Indian market, catering to varied segments of users. Idea has introduced an entry-level Android 3G Smartphone, Idea ID 920, which is aimed at providing good 3G experience to first time data users in semi-urban markets, at price of Rs.4,950. On the other hand, Idea has also introduced another higher-end Android 4.1 Jelly Bean device, Idea Aurus III, which is priced at Rs.6,990.
Sashi Shankar, Chief Marketing Officer, Idea Cellular, said, "Keeping in mind the requirements of the fast-evolving Indian consumer in the light of the ongoing mobile broadband revolution, the new 3G smartphones from Idea are priced affordably to upgrade existing 2G users to 3G. Device plays an important role in establishing data experience for the user, but currently 3G smartphones are priced relatively high in the Indian market. Idea is bridging this gap by bringing low-cost devices with high-end features to proliferate 3G among all segments of users."
Idea ID 920 is a dual-SIM, Android 2.3 OS-based device with 1GHz processor, 3.5" TFT screen and supports a 2MP camera. Its processor supports data features such as video-streaming, push mail, and social media access such as Twitter and Facebook. The smartphone comes with a powerful 1400 mAh battery and a 2GB memory card with expandable memory up to 32 GB. ID 920 will cater to the same target segment which was earlier being addressed by Idea ID 918 based on the same Android technology.
Idea Aurus III is Android Jellybean 4.1 OS powered with 1Ghz processor which comes with a 4-inch capacitive touchscreen with display that supports 480 x 800 pixels resolution and 16M colours. It boasts of internal memory of a 4GB ROM along with 512MB RAM. The smartphone sports a 5MP camera with fix focus and digital zoom along with a front facing camera offering video calling. Aurus III offers rich experience of popular social networking sites such as Facebook, Twitter and YouTube, apart from a wide range of other interesting applications and games.
