India’s Quantum Mission
Innovation is a continuous process. The world is moving beyond traditional computers and even supercomputers, and adopting Quantum technologies in sectors ranging from data security and fintech to banking and defence, like it could be used to develop new weapons like Electronic warfare and critical defense systems.
Quantum technology has the potential to revolutionize various sectors, including communication, computing, medicine, cryptography, logistics, sensing and solving complex problems faster than ever before. India recognizes the importance of harnessing quantum science for scientific progress, national security, and economic growth.
India's quantum mission is also driven by collaborations with international partners. The country has signed agreements with countries like the US, China, Finland, Austria, France and Canada, which are leading the research in this field to foster cooperation in quantum research and technology development. Such collaborations enable knowledge exchange, joint research projects, and access to state-of-the-art facilities and expertise.
India has a strong foundation in quantum research. The country has a number of world-class research institutes, including the Indian Institute of Science, the Indian Institute of Technology, and the National Centre for Biological Sciences. These institutes are home to some of the leading quantum physicists in the world.
In addition, the Indian government has set up the Quantum Computing Applications Lab in the Centre for Development of Advanced Computing (C-DAC) in Pune. The lab focuses on developing quantum computing applications for sectors such as finance, healthcare, logistics, and drug discovery.
The program aims to develop a quantum computer by 2030 and to become a global leader in quantum technology, with an aim to be a leader in the development of quantum technology, and it is well on its way to achieving that goal.
Overall, India's mission to advance in quantum technology demonstrates its commitment to staying at the forefront of scientific and technological advancements.
