Instagram introduces Meta AI voice translations in five Indian languages and new regional fonts on Edits, enabling creators to make reels more accessible, authentic, and visually appealing for a wider Indian and global audience.
Instagram has announced a significant update for its users in India, bringing Meta AI voice translations to Bengali, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, and Marathi. Previously, the feature was available only in English, Hindi, Spanish, and Portuguese. The move was unveiled at the ‘House of Instagram’ event in Mumbai, highlighting the platform’s focus on local language accessibility.
Creators can now automatically translate their reels into these languages while preserving the tone and style of their original voice. Instagram also offers a lip-syncing feature, ensuring the translated audio aligns with mouth movements, making it appear as if users are speaking the translated language naturally.
Indian fonts now available on Instagram Edits
Alongside AI-powered voice translations, Instagram is adding Indian fonts to the Edits tool, allowing text and captions in Hindi, Marathi, Bengali, and Assamese to be styled using the Devanagari and Bengali-Assamese scripts. This enhancement provides creators more flexibility in customizing their content and connecting with audiences in native languages.
Instagram emphasizes that these updates are aimed at helping creators reach a broader audience, both within India and globally, while keeping their content authentic and engaging. By combining voice translation and regional font support, Instagram is enhancing content personalization and accessibility for users across diverse linguistic communities.
These new features are part of Instagram’s ongoing efforts to make the platform more inclusive and to support creators in producing content that resonates with audiences in multiple languages.
