Instagram has introduced three major features—Reposts, the Friends tab in Reels, and an Instagram Map location sharing option—designed to help users connect, discover content, and engage with friends more easily.
Reposts let you share your favorite public reels and feed posts directly to your followers’ feeds, while also appearing in a dedicated tab on your profile. Original creators are credited, giving them a chance to reach new audiences beyond their follower base. To repost, tap the repost icon, optionally add a note, and save.
The new Friends tab in Reels showcases content your friends have liked, commented on, created, or reposted—making it easier to start conversations and engage with what’s trending in your circle.

Instagram Map’s location sharing feature allows you to selectively share your live location with chosen friends, Close Friends, or no one at all. You can also explore location-based posts and stories from friends and creators. This feature is opt-in, customizable, and includes parental controls for supervised teen accounts.
With these updates, Instagram aims to enhance real-time social interaction, support content discovery, and give users more control over privacy and sharing. Whether reposting viral reels, keeping up with friends’ activities, or finding trending spots through location-based content, these tools help make Instagram a more connected and interactive platform.
