In less than two months, Deepika Padukone’s reel surpassed Instagram viewership records held by Hardik Pandya and Cristiano Ronaldo, reaching 1.9 billion views and gaining viral traction far beyond her 80 million followers
Bollywood star Deepika Padukone has broken Instagram viewership records with a promotional reel that has garnered more than 1.9 billion views, making it the most-watched video on the platform to date.
The reel, shared on June 9 as part of Padukone’s collaboration with global hotel chain Hilton, forms a key part of their international campaign titled “It Matters Where You Stay.” In just under two months, the video has surpassed previous Instagram records held by public figures such as Hardik Pandya and Cristiano Ronaldo. Until now, Pandya’s reel promoting a gaming brand held the top spot with 1.6 billion views, while another tech-related promotional video followed with 1.4 billion.
From Reels to Hollywood fame
While branded reels are commonplace on Instagram, the engagement levels on Padukone’s post have stunned industry observers and fans alike. The actor, who boasts over 80 million followers on the platform, saw the video go viral well beyond her regular fanbase. Comments from users praised the campaign’s appeal and celebrated the rare milestone of crossing a billion views—an achievement few digital creators or celebrities have reached.
This digital triumph adds to Padukone’s growing list of international accolades. Recently, the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce announced she will be honoured with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 2026, highlighting her global influence.
On the professional front, Padukone was last seen in Singham Again and is slated to appear in the upcoming science fiction film AA22xA6, directed by Atlee. She is also expected to reprise her role in the sequel to Kalki 2898 AD, further cementing her status as one of India’s most prominent and internationally recognised film personalities.See What’s Next in Tech With the Fast Forward Newsletter
