Shunya Labs has announced a CPU-compatible voice AI architecture that enables high-accuracy speech recognition and multilingual reasoning on standard commodity servers.
The architecture is purpose-built for structured, real-time voice workloads, reducing dependence on GPU clusters and allowing enterprises and public institutions to deploy sovereign, low-latency voice AI directly on their existing infrastructure or devices.
Conventional voice AI systems depend on GPU-heavy or cloud-based inference, making them costly, latency-prone and hard to deploy in regulated environments. Shunya Labs’ CPU-compatible voice stack enables real-time transcription, multilingual IVR, live agent assist and medical dictation on the x86 servers already used by hospitals, contact centres, government data centres and large enterprises.
Instead of investing in specialised hardware, organisations can deploy production-grade voice AI directly on infrastructure or devices they already own.
Shunya Labs’ CPU-compatible architecture significantly reduces voice AI infrastructure costs compared to GPU-led deployments, while also lowering power and cooling requirements. This enables enterprises to redirect AI investments from hardware-heavy capital expenditure toward operational applications such as customer support automation, clinical documentation, and public service delivery.
The architecture is designed for on-premise and edge deployment, making real-time voice intelligence viable in environments where GPU infrastructure is impractical or unjustifiable, such as rural healthcare facilities, regional government offices, field operations and legacy enterprise systems.
Ritu Mehrotra, Co-Founder and CEO, Shunya Labs commenting on the launch, “Voice is the most natural interface for AI, but it is also the hardest to run reliably at scale. Real-time voice systems require low latency, deterministic performance and strong data sovereignty, all of which break down in GPU-heavy, cloud-dependent architectures. Our CPU-compatible voice stack proves that world-class voice AI can run on the servers organisations already have, making it economically viable, energy-efficient and sovereign by design.”
Shunya Labs blends foundational AI research with CPU-compatible privacy-first deployment to deliver scalable, sovereign voice intelligence for organisations worldwide.
