IRCTC has issued a public notice, warning people not to download a suspicious Android app named ‘irctcconnect.apk’. This app is being sent to users of popular messaging platforms like WhatsApp and Telegram asking them to download it. Regarding this app, IRCTC has given a strict warning that users should not download it. The app if installed on the phone will make every personal information accessible by hackers.
IRCTC informed that users should be extra careful while responding to any messages appearing to be sent by ITCTC. It said that the fraudsters behind the app pretend to be IRCTC and attempt to obtain your personal information, such as your UPI details and other important banking information. Therefore, it is crucial to avoid downloading this app and to remain vigilant against any similar suspicious applications.
These fraudsters are sending phishing links at mass level and insisting users to download this android application, impersonating IRCTC officials to trick victims into revealing their sensitive net banking credentials like UPI details, credit/debit card information etc.
In view of this, IRCTC advised people to not to install this application and keep self safe from such fraudsters. Always download IRCTC’s authorized ‘IRCTC Rail Connect’ mobile app from Google Play Store or Apple Store.
