Windows has a mid-boggling market share of more than 90 percent in desktop and mobile PCs. The advent of mobile computing synchronizes Microsoft’s attempt to take the operating system into the modern era of computing by launching Windows 8.Â
The latest operating system Windows 8 from Microsoft got good reviews in the beginning. According to an estimate, in just 3 days after hitting the Web, Microsoft’s Windows 8 OS download reached a milestone by clocking 4 million downloads, which is a record in itself. The quality of Windows 8 has been praised and Microsoft has done well to bring the same look and feel to devices from smartphones to desktops. According to reports some 40 million Windows 8 licences have been sold in the month of November since the launch of the latest OS from Microsoft.Â
Windows 8 is more secure than its predecessor. The robust version of Windows Defender makes it all the more secure. Â Added to this, UEFI Secure Boot optimizations have been given special emphasis.Â
Concerns have been raised by the critics about Windows 8. Â However, it is not new. Critics have invariably raised their concerns about the transition to each new version of Windows.Â
