Despite economic downturn and dwarf growth in IT recruitments in the country, the Infopark in Kochi is expecting to record healthy growth in recruitment over the next few years. According to an estimate, IT employment is expected to grow three times over the next three years at the Infopark. This will give employment to almost 12,000 people.
To the reader’s surprise, Infopark has provided employment to nearly 18,500 IT professionals, since its establishment n 2004. Presently, there are nearly 134 IT companies in the park. IT firms TCS and Cognizant are also constructing their own campuses of 1.5 million square feet each in the Infopark.
Gigo Joseph, CEO, Infopark said, “The rentals in Infopark are lower by almost 30 % as compared to other South Indian cities. The attrition is as low as 5 %. That is why, the employees in the park will see a three-fold rise in the next 3 years.”
As per 2012-13 data, Infopark reported export revenue of Rs 1,350 crore, representing a 23 % growth over the previous year.
