In a strategic move to enhance user engagement and diversify its revenue streams, leading online travel aggregator ixigo has launched metro ticket booking services through a partnership with Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) and the Open Network for Digital Commerce (ONDC). This latest offering integrates urban mobility solutions, enabling users of the ixigo Trains app to effortlessly book QR-based Delhi Metro tickets, ensuring smooth first-mile and last-mile connectivity within the app.
To encourage adoption, ixigo is offering an attractive 100% cashback offer (up to ₹50) as ixigo money for metro tickets booked between 9 AM and 11 AM, making daily commuting more cost-effective. This initiative positions ixigo as a key player in the public transport booking ecosystem, helping users combine train travel with metro rides for a seamless journey.
Alok Bajpai, CEO of ixigo, emphasized that this step reflects the company’s vision to provide integrated travel solutions and enhance customer convenience. With other popular platforms like EaseMyTrip, RedBus, Uber, and Rapido already providing metro ticket booking via ONDC partnerships, ixigo’s entry into this space is set to make urban commuting easier for millions of users.
This expansion aligns with the growing demand for smart transportation, digital ticketing, and contactless payment systems across metropolitan cities in India. By offering incentives and integrating local transit options, ixigo aims to strengthen its position in the travel tech industry, increase app usage, and contribute to India’s push toward digital-first mobility services.
