JumpCloud has acquired Breez, a New York-based identity threat detection and response (ITDR) startup, in a move to deepen its access control, asset observability, and zero trust capabilities. The acquisition enhances JumpCloud’s ability to connect identity, entitlement, and data classification insights—providing richer visibility into who is accessing what, and why.
Founded in 2023 by Abhinav Srivastava, former CISO of Frame.io and security director at Adobe, Breez focused on data security posture management (DSPM) viewed through identity and entitlement observability. According to Greg Keller, JumpCloud’s co-founder and CTO, Breez’s expertise aligns perfectly with JumpCloud’s broader security stack, especially following its earlier acquisition of Stack Identity, which unified user identities across devices and environments.
“The key differentiator is Breez’s strength in data asset classification and its ability to bring context to every access attempt,” Keller said. “This helps us go beyond verifying identities to understanding the sensitivity and purpose behind each access request.”
Keller described the transaction as both a strategic and talent-driven acquisition, bringing exceptional engineering and product expertise to JumpCloud. Integrating Breez’s technology will help deliver a comprehensive ITDR solution—linking unified identity governance, threat detection, and automated remediation, such as isolating compromised devices or revoking access in real time.
Breez’s technology will be replatformed into JumpCloud’s core infrastructure, ensuring compliance with its coding standards, observability, and threat modeling frameworks. Keller emphasized that this integration-first approach avoids the fragmentation common in large-scale security mergers.
Reflecting on market dynamics, Keller said many venture-backed cybersecurity firms of the 2019–2021 boom built “features, not platforms.” With capital tightening, JumpCloud aims to consolidate the most promising technologies to accelerate innovation.
“Each access attempt is unique,” Keller concluded. “By uniting identity, entitlement, and asset intelligence, we’re creating a truly context-aware, security-driven access model for the modern enterprise.”
