Actor, politician, producer and director Kamal Haasan is the latest celebrity to join the NFT (non-fungible token) space with the upcoming launch of his own collection of digital tokens. He will also be having his own digital avatar in a metaverse, and is reportedly the first Indian celebrity to do so.
This comes after Amitabh Bachchan's NFT collection broke all records of NFT bids in India, becoming the most successful so far. Kamal Haasan’s entry into NFT comes after Rajinikanth, Amitabh Bachchan, Salman Khan and Sunny Leone ventured into this space in a similar fashion, with the launch of their own collectibles.
Haasan will also have an exclusive space in the world of gaming, with Fantico launching a new game-based metaverse where the actor will be launching a museum. Details about the collection have been kept under wraps till now. The NFTs will be launched on kamal.fantico.io.
Fans of Haasan will be able to engage with his digital avatars on Fantico, as well as purchase tangible and digital mementos and souvenirs, and meet and greet sessions with the actor.
“I am excited to explore the emerging intersection of the digital and physical world which is now becoming popularly known as metaverse. My life's journey of over six decades has blurred the distinction between my personal and professional life and will be my offering for this metaverse", Haasan said in a statement.
