Kaspersky Internet Security 2013 tops Real-World Protection Test
Kaspersky Lab has announced that its protection solution, Kaspersky Internet Security 2013, successfully blocked 100% of the malicious attacks in the Real-World Protection Test conducted by the prestigious Austrian research laboratory AV-Comparatives in March 2013.
AV-Comparatives' March test checked how effectively popular security products combat malicious attacks in real-world situations, i.e. while carrying out the most commonplace real-world tasks for home computers. Such scenarios usually include web browsing and working with popular applications such as Adobe Reader, Flash, Java, etc. During the test, the computer (which was running Windows 7) was sent towards a malicious link to test out the protection offered by the solution under review. This replicates the most common vector of infection currently used by cybercriminals.
The experts prepared 422 infection scenarios in which various vulnerabilities and malware samples were used. Kaspersky Internet Security 2013 successfully blocked every attack. Along with Kaspersky Lab’s solution, 20 other popular antivirus products participated in the testing.
"We spend a great deal of time and effort on developing a whole range of proactive technologies to detect and block malware and on our research into this area. There is no other way to provide reliable protection in real-world situations - and the results of the Real-World Protection Test prove this," said Oleg Ishanov, Director of Anti-Malware Research, Kaspersky Lab.
This is not for the first time that Kaspersky Internet Security 2013 has proved its effectiveness in real-world protection tests. In December 2012, the product earned an ADVANCED+ rating in the similar but longer-running testing which was conducted between August and November 2012.
