The ministry of external affairs (MEA) is all set to launch a smartphone app in mid-July to deal with issues of passports, haj and visa/consular services.
The introduction of this app will help the users to access services which are offered by foreign ministry's website.
Users of both Android and iOS devices can access this information through this app.
According to reports published in a national daily, this is being done to connect media, students, scholars, diplomats, travelers and the average citizen anyone who wants information or assistance from the foreign ministry. The app will link with Google Maps to provide the user with directions to the nearest passport office.
With the increasing demand for samrtphones, it was the next area where MEA had to tread specially after its successful venture into social media sites like Facebook and Twitter.
