Meta has introduced Muse Charm, a compact AI device designed to give people another way to reach its personal AI agent, Muse. CEO Mark Zuckerberg revealed it on September 23 at the company's annual Connect event, presenting it as a surprise "one more thing" moment.
The palm-sized gadget is meant to sit in a pocket or hang from a keychain. A small screen shows a digital avatar of Muse, which Meta internally calls Jolly.
Using it is simple. A user taps a fingerprint sensor and speaks to the agent, skipping the need to unlock a phone or open an app. Zuckerberg framed the device as a way to keep Muse within easy reach whenever someone is not wearing Meta's AI-enabled glasses.
Unlike those glasses, Muse Charm does not rely on a camera-equipped wearable to present information. Its focus is a portable, voice-driven line to the assistant.
What Muse can do
Meta launched Muse in September as an agent built to act, not merely answer questions. It can send emails, book travel and work across applications on a person's behalf.
The agent operates inside a dedicated virtual machine known as Muse Secure VM, which holds both the assistant and the user's data. A separate agent called Sentinel governs whether Muse may go online and asks the user for approval when required.
Timeline and open questions
Muse Charm is not yet ready to ship. Zuckerberg said Meta still has to finalise the internal components and expects the device to be available over the December holiday period.
The company has not revealed a price or detailed hardware specifications. The device gives Meta a third route for distributing Muse, alongside smartphones and its smart glasses.
The announcement fits into a wider push by Meta around personal AI agents and AI-powered hardware. At the same event, the company outlined further Muse capabilities, including tighter integration with its hardware ecosystem.
