With a focus to increase digital inclusion and ensure the benefits of technology to underserved people, Microsoft Corporation India has announced the availability of Office 365 for qualifying nonprofits and nongovernmental organizations (NGOs) through its software donation programme. The donation is available today in 41 countries, including India, and will be in up to 90 countries by July 2014.
Manju Dhasmana, Communty Affairs Manager, Microsoft India, said, At Microsoft, we have always recognized the importance of the work that nonprofits and NGOs undertake to bring about a positive impact to society. We believe that, by making the latest technology accessible to them, we can help them accomplish even more. In the hands of nonprofit organizations, technology can boost productivity, increase effectiveness through better collaboration, and extend services to new communities and individuals in need.
The Office 365 Donation Programme for Nonprofits is a great initiative by Microsoft, which will further enable nonprofits to increase their productivity, reach more people and deliver new, improved services that directly help excluded communities. This programme rounds out our technology for good programmes and will go a long way in enabling us to fulfil our mission of bridging technology gaps for Indian NGOs, thereby contributing to inclusive growth and '#changingIndia bit by bit', said Rita Soni, NASSCOM Foundation.
In the fiscal year 2013 alone, Microsoft donated $795 million (Fair Market Value) in cash, software and services to 70,286 nonprofits in more than 115 countries around the world. So far, Microsoft India has donated a total sum of INR3,773,855,408 since 2004, including cash and software grants.
