Expanding its Surface 2 offerings to include 4G connectivity, Microsoft has selected NVIDIA i500 modem to connect its first LTE tablet to AT&T’s 4G LTE network.
The new Surface 2 (AT&T 4G LTE) now includes two NVIDIA processors. It sports the fifth-generation i500 modem, along with our Tegra 4 mobile processor, whose quad-core CPU and 72 GPU cores already provide the performance for powerful applications like Microsoft Office Home & Student 2013 RT and Outlook 2013 RT.
Surface 2 (AT&T 4G LTE) now delivers the portability, productivity and connectivity that consumers demand.
Microsoft’s choice of i500 is another proof point for NVIDIA’s LTE modem technology. The Surface 2 (AT&T 4G LTE) joins several other recently announced devices also powered by NVIDIA’s modem technology, such as the Tegra NOTE 7 LTE tablet platform and smartphones with Tegra 4i, such as the LG G2 Mini and Wiko WAX.
NVIDIA’s LTE modems offer unique software-defined radio technology – a future proof capability that can adapt to new carrier standards with a software update. Our modems have been certified for both voice and data on top carriers worldwide.
