CDMA operator MTS India is reportedly all set to put a full-stop to its operations in the UP East circle very soon. After the latest announcement, MTS users are left with no other option than to opt for mobile number portability.
Presently, MTS has over 1.5 lakh subscribers in the region and has its circle office based in Lucknow. The closing down of the operations of the Sistema Shyam TeleServices India Ltd (SSTL), which provides the CDMA service under the MTS brand name will significantly affect major cities in UP, including Kanpur, Gorakhpur, Lucknow, Sitapur, Varanasi and Allahabad.
A spokesperson of the company announced, "We have already informed our subscribers about the closure of operations well in advance and this was not something which would caught them off-guard."
According to a latest update, MTS’s service will stop in the proposed areas after April 10 midnight.
